Hi,

After the exhaust change I hear a humming noise around 3000rpm when engine braking.
If I accelerate, I not hear the humming jut when the engine braking on.
Below 2950 and above 3100 the humming is disappear and the engine braking is silent.

I have a 2006 c4 180 vts (2.0 16v) which i am told is the normal clutch not a dmf. I have a receipt stating the clutch was done a few month back. Now my problem is if i am manouvering parking etc and i am trying to use the clutch slowely and little revs if that makes sense i get judder and sometimes a smell of burnt clutch. If i am just driving normally there is no problem like starting off from the lights where i am using the revs.

Anyone any idea what this could be?

C4 Hatch 2008 - Just bought, various problems!

Hi all,

First time posting here, I'm a citroen owner for the firs time as of a week ago.
I have a 2008 Citroen C4 VTR+ 1.6 Petrol, 78000 miles.
First impressions of the car are good, I like the styling, dash, how it drives, functionality and smoothness of ride.

However over the first week of ownership I have noticed a number of issues which I was hoping people could help with. I've tried searching them all individually without a great amount of luck.

1. Electric windows.
The driver window controls don't seem to work. The buttons for passenge and both rear windows do nothing. The button for the drivers window will move the window in about 5cm bursts, but also in the wrong direction. So pulling the switch up moves the window down 5cm.. pushing the switch down moves the window up.

2. Electric mirror adjustment
I guess this may be linked to the above, but the mirror adjustment will only adjust the driver side mirror, regardless of where the sliding selector is. Even if its central I can still adjust the mirror. Also the directions don't quite tie up with the way the mirror moves either, it's a bit all over the place. This was working fine when I bought the car a week ago.

3. Outside temperature shows --°C. This was also working when I bought the car

4. Air con is slow to kick in
I've noticed on a number of my journeys I can be waiting 5 minutes for the air con to kick in. It's like flicking a switch when it does come on too. It goes from normal "cold" setting without AC of just blowing ambient temperature air, then to blowing ice cold air and that switches over in seconds but it can take 5 minutes to get to that point. I've also noticed that it seems to kick in when the vehicle speed gets quite high.. 50mph+?

5. Blower direction sometimes gets stuck at wind screen.
Yesterday when i was driving i tried to adjust blower directions and it seemed to get stuck just blowing at the screen. It seems OK today though.

I have read about the always blowing hot, or only blowing at one speed may require the resistor pack to be replaced but i don't have that issue, the different fan speeds work ok.

So apologies for this big list of things but if anyone is able to give me some advice, pointers or ideally fixes for any of these issues i would be extremely grateful!

Chris

C4 1.6 petrol Stalling cutting out at idle when reaches normal temprature

Hi hope you all are well, joined the forum hoping someone will able to give some advice.

I have a C4 1.6 SX Automatic, its 2006 Model.

If you start the car from cold its starts fine and you can drive around however when it reaches normal temprature at junctions etc it stalls..

If the car is started from cold, as soon as it reaches normal temprature it will cut out and stall.

I have had code reader on it and no faults are shown. No warnings on dash.

I have checked the following to eliminate them..

Oil filter.. as some cheap oil filters the spring part can snap.. But that was all ok

Spark plugs.. all good. Oil all ok.

Checked the following sensors by disconeccting and seeing im they make a diference.

Coolant Temprature -- Still cuts out

Lambda sensors -- Still cuts out

Map Sensor -- Still Cuts out

Crank Position Sensor -- Replaced with new one -- Still cuts out.

I have further checked the fuse box... fuse 1.. etc all that is good.

The coils seem to be good .. no misfire..

Had a look at the black fuel relay. but cant say much before I swap it with another one

I have done a bsi reset aswell... still stalls cuts out..

Also checked the brake switch incase that was giving issues... but its ok

Anyone have any ideas at what else could be causing it to cut out at idle when it reaches normal temprature..

the only thing I can think about for me to check out is the fuel relay or fuel pump.. or maybe the coils are playing up when it reaches normal middle temprature..

I did notice that when you do the onboard diagnostic it says speed control fault.. could that cause the car to stall at idle? apparently that could be one of the wheel bearings abs part..

Help and advice would be deeply appreciated as dont know what else to check.. thanks in advance.

DV6C Diesel Filter Change (8 valve 1.6HDi in Picassos, C4s, DS4s)

Here's a few tips on the filter change.

1st photo shows location (up under scuttle on right hand side).

2nd photo shows two off filter retaining screws, 8mm hex heads. Disconnect the electrical connector first. I used a deep offset spanner to access the screw heads. These are captive screws, you should not need to remove them completely.

3rd photo shows the fuel hoses to be removed: centre white and the green connector.

Then disconnect the clip supporting the fuel hose, ease the filter up and forwards to improve access to the left hand fuel connector. (4th photo).

The actual filter cover lifts away complete with the aluminium bodies filter.
Take it away to a clean area. Lift the central electrical connector and twist gently, the open the lower drain (water) valve. Remove the filter cover by undoing the three off T15 torx headed screws. Install new filter (check new upper seal is in place) Remove the lower protective cap that comes with the new filter.

Reinstall the filter, screw down with the two 8mm hex screws, connect electrical connector, make sure water drain valve is closed (this is the central electrical connector). Connect all three fuel hoses.

Now to prime the filter (last photo). Disconnect central fuel hose (white connector). Suck fuel through from tank (I used a Pela suction pump). Then prime the injection pump by pushing down the plunger.

Observe Cleanliness throughout!!!

Engine diagnostic light + urea + service light

Hi All,

I was about to the collect my C4GP BlueHDI yesterday. I gave the car a final test drive before taking it off the forecourt. During the test about 3 mins into the drive the service light came on with message saying it needs servicing in 1500km. The Urea light was also on. This I understand means Adblue needs topping up. However I'm not so sure why the Engine Diagnostic Light is also on! Does this mean there's something wrong with the catalytic system? So I left it with the dealer for another few days to fix it because I believe there maybe more than just topping up Adblue to fix the lights. Any advice on what to do and what's going on? Thanks.

Is there a way to keep the radio on when sat stationery in the car. Quite often I need to briefly put the ignition on and then turn it off again. And it's a bit annoying to have to keep turning the radio back on?

Another EGR/ESP/ASR issue. Lexia.

Hi all,

I have a 2007 C4 Grand Picasso with 170.000 miles and have had some ESP and ASR faults lights come on and a faulty handbrake message. The handbrake now doesn’t work automatically. The problem seems to be similar/identical to the post before mine - “ Jo10000_6” so I've gleaned info from that and won't repeat his questions.
I checked some codes with the ‘Torque‘ app on my mobile phone and I got the following fault codes:

P0409
P1459
P0490
P1351

I’ve checked the internet and the first 3 seem to be EGR faults and the fourth one is some sort of glow plug fault. I tried to clear the fault codes but they never cleared – don’t know if that’s because the ‘Torque’ app isn’t capable of clearing the fault codes or because the faults are permanently there. Car drives fine. I’m tempted to change the EGR but will try and clean it first – can anyone recommend an EGR cleaning product and how do I use it. I’ve also read about wire damage/shorting causing the error lights- can anyone tell me where in the engine bay the wire fraying/shorting may be?
I’ll use my local Citroen dealer only as a last resort because the last time I used them on my wife’s C8 (difficult to start) they had the car on the diagnostics for 4 hrs and couldn’t find a problem. When I asked what the fuel pressure was like it transpired they hadn’t even checked it?? When they did check the fuel pressure it was really so I took the car away and changed the fuel pump myself and all was ok. So I’m not keen on using then as they seem a bit incompetent.
I’m also interested in getting ‘Lexia’ to help better diagnose problems. Can anyone give me rundown on how I buy and install Lexia and software.

Regards,

Tony

Hello,

now i am on 17" AQUILLON rim (7J ET50) with 205/55 R17, and want to go 18" but not OEM. It is possible to fit 18" 8J ET45 rim with 225/45 R18 on C4GPII without scrubbing fenders?

Radiator fan not running

$

Hi,

I know this is similar to other threads about the radiator fan not running, but it is the hottest day of the year and my car isn't overheating....
The fan just doesn't run... ever!
But the temp guage also doesn't go over 3 bars?

I have disconnected the temp sensor, then the fan does run - it goes mad!
I have just changed the thermostat & temp sensor - the old sensor appears to have been in a air pocket & not bled properly.
I cleared a dead bird out of the fan & radiator (yuk)
The air-con needs a regas, so the aircon cicuit doesn't force the fan to run..

So:
- the fan works
- the fuse isn't blown
- the thermostat & temperature sensor are working
- the wiring is ok as the fan runs when I ďisonnect the sensor

Just waiting for the day my car overheats in a queue on the A38...

How easy is it to replace the condenser on the C4GP? According to they Haynes for the C4, the radiator has to be removed. I've had a quick look and there seems to be plenty of space between the radiator assembly and the front bumper. Has anyone done this job before?

C4 Temperature gauge

Hi! I realised recently that the temp gauge on my recently bought C4 2005 1.6 HDI didn't seem to be working. In the warmer weather the fan has been on so wasn't too concerned. Anyway, have put Lexia on it today. In the parameter tests the coolant is reading -30C. Any ideas what could be causing this???
Thanks!

Has anyone actually solved how to reset the Eolys counter on a Grand Oicasso (old type)

Has anyone actually solved how to reset the Eolys counter on a Grand Picasso (old type) with or without a Lexia? I changed the pouch last year but cannot for the life of me get it to reset. Diagbox seems to think it's not present (the diesel additive). I now have a depollution system faulty and engine management light on as it thinks it's run out. Advice welcome. My car is a 2.0 Grand Picasso 2007.

C4 air condition problem

I have a problem with my air condition of C4. The air condition is working fine when is at LO or 19...21C. When i turn the knob to 22..23 it start working on heat and blow warm air. This is happens only if i turn the drivers site knob. The passenger knob is cold at 22C
Also i noticed that when both sites are at LO temperature the passengers site blows colder air than the drivers site.
Does anybody had similar problem?
