halogen lamps >> original xenon lamps swap

Hey guys,

Unfortunately I cannot find the answer if anyone has tried to replace the C4/DS4 (2011 B7) halogen lamps with the original xenon lamps... I could have some from the other car but have no idea if technically possible to make this "conversion" working. Of course I am expecting some additional work/adjustment to be done (control unit settings etc.).. Thank you.

Parking Brake / ASR & ESP Fault when using Kickdown

Hi

Been driving on the motorway, and when I put my foot down to get kickdown, all of a sudden the engine stopped and the Parking Break error came up with ASR / ESP failure

Once stopped and turned of ignition for around 20 minutes. The fault cleared and was fine for the rest of the journey

Anyone got any ideas, this is the second time in 2 months this has happened

RT3 sat nav

Evening all.
I have the RT3 sat nav with built in phone. CD multichanger in RH upper dash glove box, Factory DVD player in centre console with rear screens with audio inputs on the centre console. I also have an audio/video phono connector block in the glove box. I was wondering, as I don't want to lose the use of my cd player, is there a way i can use the phono socket in the glove box to fit a USB or bluetooth box/adapter. Has anyone else tried this?
Edited My car is a 2007 C4GP Exclusive
Has any by the way retro fitted electric seats, surprised these aren't standard on the Exclusive???

C4GP 2014 Clutch Judder on take off

Hi all

Has any experienced clutch judder on take off. I had it about 18 months ago and the dealer adjusted a clip on a cable that make the clutch harder to press and for a sort term resolved it only coming back when hot and it lot of traffic. Its not got to a stage its every time you set up in 1st.

Sounds like a clutch flywheel issue and Im expecting the extended Citroen warranty not to cover it unless its possible a clutch master cylinder issue.

any feedback appreciated before I start another long and painful journey with this car and loss of it for some time.

DS4 interior grounding point

Hi all,

I'm currently installing a hardwire kit in my DS4 for my dashcam but stuck looking for a suitable ground for the negative wire.

I'm presuming there's a grounding point either behind the trim surrounding the bonnet release lever or behind the centre console trim, is this correct? I've managed to release some of the clips on both but they won't budge any further. Especially regarding the former, I'm not sure how to remove the trim from around the lever.

Cheers

Strange noise when in reverse

Hi all !

I have owned a Picasso C4 1.6e-HDI Exclusive 65 plate since January, now on 18,500 miles It is due its 2 year Service in September and when I bought it from Evans Halshaw I bought a 3 year Service Plan so this entitles me to the basic service this year (no MOT due til 2018 of course and it is still under Citroen warranty).

The problem which has started only recently began as follows, when setting off from a cold engine there appeared to be a metal grating noise from underneath the car. Now I am no expert on cars at all (hence the post on here !) but it sounded like the brake pad scraping on the disc. Once "on the move" the noise disappears. I have checked all the brake discs for "pitting, scoring" and all are smooth.

However things took a strange turn in the last few days however, everytime I engage reverse gear and move off a very strange noise occurs. I can only describe it as "a rusty old gate been closed slowly". like a squealy, grating high pitched noise.

Now this does concern me a little bit and I of course want to mention this to the Garage (Evans Halshaw Citroen York)when it goes in for its Service. However knowing nothing about cars I don't want to be ripped off and told all sorts needs doing at great expense.

Has anybody any ideas what the problem could be and better still would the potential problem be covered by the Citroen 3 year warranty on the car. I spent nigh on £11,000 on this car and could do without any great expense this early into my purchase.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated to put my mind at rest.

C4 Picasso 1.6HDI EGS issues - requesting advise

So I just (Friday) bought a 2009 C4 Picasso 1.6 EGS. On the way home from the garage a load of warning lights came up ASR / ESP failure, Parking Brake failure, Gearbox Failure, Engine Oil Pressure low. The car lost all drive and wouldn't engage any gear. I had to coast to the side of the road and turn off the car. Starting it up again everything seemed ok. I tried contacting the garage but they are away for the bank holiday. The same thing has happened 5 more times since Friday.

Any suggestions as to what the cause could be? Unsure if this is the usual gearbox problems I've seen mentioned. The car has been serviced twice in the past 500 miles. It's got a full history (not from Citroen) and 55k on the clock.

Any Suggestions?

MOT fail Boot won't open and rear fog light not working

$

Hi, I'm new here and found on last Friday that the above issues caused the car to fail. The car in question is a 2007 1.6 HDi VTR plus automatic 110BHP version.

I was told that nine times out of ten the boot issue is the microswitch. The fog light usually the bulb. Replaced the microswitch but did not make any difference, checked the terminals, ensured that the switch was pressed in and contacts touching on the outer shell. The foglight, the bulb holder was corroded so cleaned it with electrical connector cleaner, the bulb did not look like it was blown, but changed it nonetheless. Still nothing.

I am assuming the next step is to check for continuity with the ignition on for both of these things. Can anyone advise on what terminals to check for each please. I have a multimeter. Naturally I am hoping the loom isn't broken at the point where the upper hatch opens. I guess I will need to check what fuse and relay does what and check the other functions that the fuse / relay supports for elimination.

Thanks in advance for any help you are able to give.

Ps. the microswitch connector is like a squarish shape.

Thanks guys

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has given me help and advice on here over the past 9 and a half years of C4 ownership.

I wanted a C4 Picasso for my next car, but it wasn't to be.

Maybe I'll get another C4 in the future and I'll be back.

Time to go now and sell my C4 spares.

Hey everyone,

Firstly an apology if this is something that has been covered elsewhere. I did spend some time trawling through previous posts but, as I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, searching didn't prove all that helpful! If there are any relevant existing threads, I'd be grateful for a link.

(Very) long story as short as possible, our 07 GP 2.0 HDi EGS (approx. 76k) died while joining the motorway a couple of weeks back. Got up to about 50mph coming off the slip road when it seemed to get stuck in 4th and wouldn't go any quicker, then the engine cut out altogether and hasn't started again since. No beeps or error messages on the dash and when the RAC came out and did some quick diagnostics, there were no error codes. Only prior warning was that while out and about earlier the same day, there was an intermittent 'skip' (felt kind of like something was slipping momentarily and, looking back, this had happened a few times over the preceding weeks) and at one point the engine cut out while coming to a stop and took a couple of attempts to restart. About a month prior, it cut out on my wife and wouldn't restart. The garage couldn't find anything mechanically wrong and said that it was an communication issue between the ECU and gearbox computer. They cleaned up some contacts and it had been fine since.

This time around the RAC guy suggested it could be cambelt-related but this was changed when we bought the car 6 months ago. The garage have checked it and, while they said it was ever-so-slightly slack, it was all still in alignment and they didn't think was the culprit. They are saying that there is no compression in the engine and it needs to be replaced. They advised against spending any more labour on dismantling the engine to investigate further. I guess I should point out at this point that, for what it's worth, the garage does have a good reputation locally.

I thought I'd post all this here on the off-chance that it sounds to anyone exactly like an issue they've experienced or heard of, in the hope of us avoiding a costly engine change!

On the other hand, if this does turn out to be the only option, the garage are currently struggling to source a replacement engine (in truth I don't think they're especially keen on doing the work) so we're looking into the possibility of finding one ourselves. However, it's not something I know anything about and I've got serious reservations about buying off ebay etc. I'd grateful for any recommendations for sources to try.

Huge thanks in advance for any sage words you guys can offer!

Cheers,

Liam

C4 Picasso Feel EAT6 120HP - 5 seater - Caravan Towing Questions

$

I've had the PJ66 Reg C4 for 6 months now, I like it but am only averaging about 54mpg - similar to previous ETG predecessor. Anyway, I'm contemplating buying a caravan and wonder if anyone has experience of towing with the C4 Picasso and ETA box. The potential; caravan would be at no more than maximum recommended weight, spotted the Elddis Xplore 422, but ideally would be much less at 80% of maximum.
Also, looks like the best tow bar option is one with a detachable ball and using a dedicated, model specific, wiring harness. Given the heavy use off electronics in the car, a Citroen supplied harness I assume. Any feedback on these aspects would be very welcome.
