Torque tightening question ?

$

On a DW10BTED4 RHR 2.0 HDi.

For the timing belt idler/roller screw, it states to Pre-tighten to 1,5 (m.daN), then Tighten to 4,3 (m.daN).

Can anyone explain to a newb, what this actually means?
In layman's terms does this just mean set your torque wrench to 1.5, then once you hit that, reset it to 4.3?

Also for nm conversion this just means times by 10 right? So its 43nm?

Mirror link retro fit

Hi all just purchased a new Picasso 2017 5 seater here in Spain, I was assured by the company that the car would have miiror link and Android auto fitted as standard but to my annoyance the car arrived and did not have it fitted. Is there a software download that could be put on to the car to enable me to connect my Samsung galaxy S8+ to the 7 inch screen to use Google maps from my phone.

C4GP mysterious error

Hi Everyone!

Im new to the forum so excuse me if someone had the same error and im starting a new thread.

So i have a 2007 C4GP 1.6 HDi. If i keep the RPM constantly around 3000 it suffers a power loss and limits the speed to 70 km/h.

First my mechanic suspected the turbo was faulty so it has been replaced. The problem still existed, and started to pop in random errors like park brake faulty, esp/esr faulty, oil pressure low. However if i restarted the vehicle all the faults were gone and the oil level is normal, did not decrease at all. We took it to 2 different mechanics and also to an official citroen service they couldnt find the solution for the problem. They tried to read the service codes several times even after the power loss error occured, but no codes was stored in the ECU. However the random errors are gone now only the power loss remains.

After reading the forum i've tried the advices read here. I took off and cleaned the EGR valve, the air mass meter and the air filter. The problem still remains.

Im completely helpless now. What else should i check/switch? Could the camshaft speed sensor be the problem? Or the DPF filter could be blocked (the computer shows its on 66%)?

Please help, i could love the car so much, but I can not count on it in this state.

Citroen C4 Coupe 1.6 HDI VTR+ Cruise Control

Good morning!

I am new to the forum so I will upload pictures of me car and introduce myself in the relevant section.

However, I am speaking to you all about an issue that I have with my cruise control.

When I first bought the car, second hand (bought may 2017, it's an 06 plate), I never checked the cruise control worked on the test drive! Stupid amateur!

Anyway, it doesn't work and I'm hoping with your guys/girls help that I can fix the issue.

When I first put the cruise control on it worked for about 30 seconds, then it just came up with a service error. It's not to do with the buttons as the limiter works and you can set the speed accordingly.

I then had my car serviced because it was new to me and although it had just been done, peace of mind to me had to get it redone.

I then tried it again and it worked! No service light or anything! I used it to go through the dreaded 50mph restrictions along the motorway. I turned the cruise control off once I was out of the zone.

I carried on my 250 mile journey up to Scotland, trouble free for a while. Until about an hour in.

Then it decided that it would bring up a 'STOP' light. The only thing that I had used different was the cruise control so I assumed it would have to be that. A thought that has been confirmed as I have not used cruise control since, and I haven't had the light since.

I pulled into a lay bay and turned off the engine. I restarted it again and had no 'STOP' light and everything was fine.

Could you tell me, is this common? What it could be causing it? Is it going to be more costly to fix? As I have never had it so I don't miss it.

Thank you in advance for your responses!

Speaker Volume after Replacement Head Unit

Hi Guys, I've recently replaced my HU on a 07 C4 Pic. The sound is good but when I adjust the sound to the drivers side front, the sound appears to be quite low volume but with a treble sound coming from the far pillar next to the windscreen.

Are there additional speakers located there? I have taken the door panels off and changed around the speakers and I still have the same problem.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Ian

Hello,
Driving through Europe from UK.
1-
The car is 2015 model and on the number plate it shows the little GB sign.
Do I need to get a GB sign sticker in particular for driving through france?
2-
I have a twin pack of france breathalysers.
Do I need to get a second pack in-case the first one is required to be used by the authority i.e. police?
3-
Is there a link for me to check where on the front head light to place the light reflectors stickers? I guess this is to be done once I get to france?

Thank you

Engine rattle and noise when accelerating

Hi there, sorry if this has been asked before.

Car is due in dealer on 29th July. I got the car on 20,170 miles and having covered around 200 miles myself. Started to get an annoying rattle of the engine on idle the engine seems to shake a little (don't know if this is normal for the car).

Also when accelerator is pressed, the rattle seems to get louder the higher the rpms.

Not there when accelerator isn't pressed.

Any ideas?

Is there anything I should know about the car in general? Thanks.

C4 only starts in the afternoon - seriously!

Hi

The subject isn't far wrong. My 08 plate C4 (1.6petrol) only seems to start in the afternoons.

Essentially 8/10 times at the moment if I try and start the car it turns over but doesn't start: the other 2/10 it will turn over for a long time but does start. Every now and then the anti-pollution fault pops up but not every time. Ironically it seems to start in the afternoon almost every time - rarely in the mornings, I thought the fuse box could be damp but I am anything but knowledgeable about these things.

The battery is ok, I've had the car looked at and whilst there were ECU faults apparently "that's sorted". I am wondering if there are some "false" readings.

The car is getting older now, 9 years and 80K miles and up until this it's been great in the 6 years I've had it (only replaced the exhaust and that's about it).

Can anyone help or advise?

Engine Hot - STOP

Hello - A continuing saga - Got this Alarm message up on the M25 (yes that slow moving circular Parking Zone) on my way to Pevencey Bay 3 wks ago. Managed to get to campsite after tapping Rad Stat Housing and called out Green Flag/Directline breakdown service 1st callout in 10years. They changed the Rad Stat and tested the fan cut-in OK, but on the way home 2wks later got the same Alarm up when car was at a standstill engine running (was a hot day 25*C+),[Fan did not cut-in] - alarm cleared when car was moving again - whats going on !!??

Today 19 July used a 10K potentiometer to simulate the Rad/Stat housing temp probe, where upon the Fan cut-in on low speed (note no visual Alarm showing) then the Fan went to Hi speed later and got the High Temp Alarm & STOP indication (Fan Low spd = 13amps; Hi spd = 30amps )

It would help me if I had the plumbing arrangement for the Engine Cooling System and or a cooling water flow diagram along with an electrical schematic, to aid the dianostics of the problem. Looked at all the Premium Member Downloads but no joy - please help.

Q1... are there other Temp Sensors within the cooling system that are relevant to Fan cut-in.
Q2...what are the Fan Lo & Hi Cut-In temperatures.
Q3...Rad Stat opening tempeature.

At the moment I'm loth to approach a gararge cos over the last 4-6wks I've invested
£1300 in ware & tear parts and an 'auto Hand Break fault diagnostics' - (ths fault turned out to be a Faulty EGR valve.. how the hell can that be so, it seems as if all the ECU's want a piece of the action - nosy so and so's)

The driver's side rear caliper has failed and brake fluid is leaking from the back of the caliper. I have one to swap it with but the car won't release the handbrake due to the fault, I can't even get it to the garage without having it towed.

How can I change it over without having to use the emergency brake release and then going to Citroen to fix?

Hi all, this is my first Citroen and I am loving it.
I've just discovered a problem with the nearside headlight, I just changed the bulb and noticed that the internal reflector assembly wobbles all over the place.
Has anyone seen this before and know how to fix?.
I have done a search but not found anything specific.
Cheers.

DW10 water pump replacement

More of a thoughts please post. Changing the timing belt and water pump on my C4GP 2.0 DW10 engine no problems there, but wonder what you think of using some RTV either side of the water pump gasket for extra security or has anyone done this and found the standard gasket seals well enough (Torque wrench used of course). Cheers all.

Headlight beam deflectors for France

$

Hi All,
It's holiday season and I'll be driving to France soon.
As my sig says I've got a 63 plate Picasso Exclusive so new shape but pre-facelift.

I've had a look in the book and at the headlights themselves.
The bulbs are halogen (both main and dipped) but the book gives the impression that they would be xenon as my pic has the 6 LED running lights/indicators rather than four.

So, the question is do I need beam deflectors? I can't find anything on the headlamp glass to indicate where one would go. Our old xsara picasso had a small spot on the glass to let you know where to place the deflector.

The book says this:
Travelling abroad
Halogen headlamps
For motoring in countries that drive on the other side of the road, it is necessary to adapt the adjustment of the dipped beams so as to not dazzle the drivers of approaching vehicles. Contact a CITROËN dealer or qualified workshop.

Xenon headlamps
The design of the dipped beam headlamps allows you to drive in a country that drives on the other side of the road, without the need for any modification.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Matt

Turbo overboost, 1.6Hdi (110)

$

I replaced my turbo core a while back and all went smoothly (although Diagbox always reported boost pressures roughly 200Mbar higher than the reference values). The car had other problems which meant that it was off the road for several months but now that those have been resolved I have begun driving the car and now get a P0234 code (turbo overboost) flagging up under certain driving conditions. This lights the IML and it won't go out again unless the error is erased using Diagbox.

Typically the error will be triggered at high speed under load during motorway driving, it does not occur when driving around town.

The turbo actuator seems to be working as it should (it retracts fully upon engine startup and extends slightly as revs are raised). I have also removed the filter from the vent pipe at the top of the engine which comes from the turbo solenoid... when revs increase there is a vacuum suggesting this is working too.

I am now suspecting that the turbo actuator (having presumably been factory calibrated to match the original turbo) is out of sync with the performance of the new core and causing my problem?

I am wondering if I was to adjust the arm on the actuator if I could get the boost values in Diagbox to more closely match the reference values and thereby avoid the dreaded light coming on again?

Much obliged for any words of wisdom - mervyn.

Hi,

I am looking for my 2014 C4 Picasso shock absorber. I have tried to find in many of the online car parts website, seems like they do not carry this item.

Is there any place that sell this item?

Thank you.
