Lexia Help in Beds/Cambs?

Hi all,

2009 Grand Picasso, I have a cheap OBD fault reader which gives the P1351 code but does anyone have Lexia near to Beds/Cambs that could help me get the exact readout so I know what is wrong, all I know is it is a power-train fault and a friend guesses maybe a glowplug- but apparently Lexia will give an exact component failure???? Also I need to turn on the aux. port on the stereo settings at the same time. Bottle of wine in it for a helpful forumite!!!!

Error Code P1586

This one's not a question, but I thought it worth posting here in case anyone else encounters similar problems.

Last month, after a 35 minute drive down the motorway, my 2007 C4 1.6 HDi wouldn't start; engine was turning over (albeit slowly) when the ignition key was turned, but wouldn't run. I suspected battery trouble as I haven't bothered to replace mine in the five years I've owned the car.

I called out the RAC, and their guy poked and prodded around. He tried priming the fuel system, which didn't do anything, and then squirting some engine start spray directly into the air intake. Engine would run while spray was being added but stalled as soon as the spray stopped. RAC man plugged in his diagnostics kit to the OBDII port and informed me that the fault was being reported as low fuel pressure, there was nothing he could do by the side of the road and that a tow would be organised.

Got the car home and decided to have a go at fixing it myself rather than taking it to a garage - the car's 10 years old, has done >130,000 miles and doesn't owe me anything. First thing I tried was replacing the fuel filter - I know my last couple of services had just drained it, and these are a common cause of low fuel pressure. No dice - still wouldn't run. So I ordered a cheap OBDII dongle from Amazon so I could do some further diagnostics. Turns out two faults were being reported via OBDII: P1351 and P1586, neither of which has anything to do with fuel pressure

P1351 is a pretty common one, indicating a problem somewhere with the glow plugs. It's not been too cold of late, and the engine would run with the addition of engine start spray, so I suspected this one was not worth worrying about in the first instance. P1586 is a bit rarer; According to the fault code database on this very website it means "Supply of the rail pressure sensor, the flowmeter and the EGR valve copy : Supply voltage too low".

I started off by checking the plugs/sockets on these sensors for corrosion, but they all looked fine. Followed the cables to see if any had chafed, but again, nothing obvious. Checked the connectors at the ECU and again, no obvious corrosion. So I started unplugging sensors to see what would happen!

Unplugging the MAF meant I kept error P1586, but got several others as well. Ditto for unplugging the fuel pressure sensor. But when I unplugged the EGR valve, success - the engine roared into life! P1586 was now clearable as long as the EGR valve was unplugged, but three fault codes relating to the depollution system not working were raised. The engine light was staying on while the display warned me of an "anti-pollution fault", but at least it was running.

Chancing my arm, I went out for a short drive and bought a new EGR from my local EuroCarParts (£125 after a 30% discount). Took about 2 hours to install it using the guides on this website - a bit of a pig as it's tucked away behind the engine. Once that was done, the car was back to starting beautifully and that was the last of error P1586. Error P1351 is still present but I can live with that for now.

Took the car out for a test drive, and found it was seriously down on power! Drove like normal up to 1500 rpm, but no oomph whatsoever above that. At first I panicked that I'd somehow killed the turbo in the process of fitting the new EGR, but some background reading suggested that this might be a symptom of an EGR valve stuck open!

Great, I thought to myself, I've managed to replace my EGR with a broken sensor for one with a working sensor, but a broken actuator! I was preparing myself for another afternoon under the bonnet when a bit of research suggested that the EGR I bought may not have been programmed to suit the ECU, and this could be sorted by resetting my car by following the instructions here.

Not holding out much hope, I gave it a go and what do you know, it worked perfectly! Now the car is running as good as new (touch wood!)

Slight hesitation under constant speed - 2010 1.6 HDI VTR+ EGS

Just bought the vehicle 2 weeks ago with 2 issues, one sorted by completing the Italian fix to cure pull away judder, many thanks to this forum.

The slight hesitation only occurs when your feathering the throttle to maintain a constant speed. Press the pedal slightly more to gently accelerate and slight judder stops, release the pedal slightly to decelerate and again the slight judder stops.

Any ideas where to start looking or is this pretty normal? Appreciate any advice!

Hi all I was driving to work this morning and about 2 mins after I set off (Which car started like it always has) went from 2nd gear to 3rd gear and lost all power in engine. On way home from work went to check to see if car would start and it didn't but it does say economy mode active and still won't start.

What does economy mode active mean? Iv read it's something to do with battery but had new battery put in few months b4 Xmas. Any help would be great as car is parked outside someone's house thanks.

Car radio stopped working

Hi

I have upgraded my car stereo to an aftermarket one, I did this like 5 years ago, everything works just fine and has been since today!

Now, every time the clocks change back or forth I have to connect my factory fitted stereo and change the time through the menu settings, which is relatively straightforward. I have been doing this every time the clocks change. Today I went to change the clock forward by following the normal procedure but my factory fitted stereo would not turn on at all...how very strange?

So I thought hey maybe the fuse has gone, so I located this as F8 on my car (under the dash), its about the 9th fuse as 20 (yellow). Little did realise that if I removed this, the car settings would COMPLETELY reset itself, like everythink changed to Km and europeon mode, even the language!

Now my situation is that the my factory fitted stereo wont work and hence cannot change no settings on my car to UK mode, but funnily enough my after market stereo does work just fine, only issue with this is that I cannot change the car settings through there, only through my original stereo! Can anybody give me some guidance on what could be the problem?

What a pain :@

Many thanks

USB cable routing

I have swapped my RD4 with an RD45 and purchased a USB cable as well.
My question where (on a 2008 coupe) do I route the USB? I can't find any exit from the radio recess to the centre console or glove box to route the cable.

MyCitroen App, connect to car via bluetooth?

I downloaded the MyCitroen App, all good, signed in and got it working but it suggests I can connect to the car via Bluetooth and get real time data from the car but I can't see how to connect it. My iPhone 6 is connected to the car already and set up as a phone and media player, it disconnects and reconnect every time I get in the car without any issues.

Should the MyCitroen app connect?

Wing Mirror Replacement

Hello, hope everyone is well.

I bought a 2014 c4 picasso on Saturday, Monday night and the wing mirror had a run in with a berlingo's wing mirror. Berlingo fine. c4 not so fine.

I picked up all the components and it all goes back together OK, a couple of plastic clips are snapped but nothing I can't make work. But it wont attach on to the small arm that the wing mirror sits on. I have a feeling there is some sort of plastic joint/grommit that attaches the two together. Does anyone have any experience/a diagram of the various components & or part numbers/ know if I am screwed; as if I can replace just an element that would sting a lot less than having to buy a whole wing mirror.

Thanks very much

Chris

Helo,
Can you please let me know the maximum length of a roofbox I can place on this car?
Please note that there is an aerial towards the back of the roof of the car which I believe the roofbox can get close to so that the maximum length can be used.

Thank you

Reverse light and backup camera

Hello,
I’m an owner of a Citroen C4 2012 e-hdi (automatic diesel) and I’m trying to install an aftermarket backup camera.
I already have an aftermarket nav-unit (7” screen running Android) with reversing support (the screen switches to video input when in reverse gear) installed and working great.
I would like to draw power from the reversing light so that I can power the backup camera when in reverse.

Does anyone know which cable I could draw power from when the reversing lights are on?
And would this affect the Canbus?

I've read about others owning C4 2012 who has connected a backup camera to the reversing light without any problems.

Here are the cables connecting to the back-light on left-hand side:

Here are the cables connecting to the back-light on right-hand side:

I apologize for the poor picture quality.

Any help and input are very much appreciated. 😊

Exhaust heat shield

$

Hello

I've tried to find an exact answer to my question by searching the forums, but couldn't find anything. Sorry, however, if I'm reposting.

I have a 2006 C4 VTR Coupe 1.6 petrol. My knowledge of car maintenance is minimal...

One year ago I had the middle and rear exhaust parts replaced. For the past few weeks, there has been a rattling noise coming from the rear of the car when idling, pulling off or changing gear.

I took it into where I had the exhaust replaced and immediately they found that the "exhaust heat shield" has come away entirely and is essentially 'stuck' between the exhaust and the underside of the car.

He gave me three options: leave it and put up with the noise, get a replacement from Citroen which would apparently be very costly, or just remove it. I asked if removing it was safe, he said yes, so I've done that.

What I want to know is, is this actually safe? Citroen put it there for a reason.

Has anyone removed this part? Does anyone know what the heat shield is in that location for?

Thanks in advance for your help.

boot not opening doors not locking, help

Hi all

So today when I got home from work I got my things out the boot closed it and hit lock on the central locking on my key, I heard the car lock and open straight away so though I had caught something in one of the doors, checked and nothing there, went to open the boot and couldn't, I tried locking the doors a couple more times but the same happened, I thought there could be something caught in the boot locking mechanism so opened the boot from the inside with a screw driver, nothing was there, I pressed the boot lock while the boot was open and everything worked fine but as soon as I close it nothing fires, so now I cant lock the car even putting the key in the lock turns and unlocks everything straight away, any ideas??

my car is a 54 plate 1.6 petrol.

Urea light not reset after topping up

Hi

My Urea light came on this morning (10072 miles from new). I added 10 litres of Ureau this evening but the light remains lit with the same message about the engine deactivating in 1500 miles.

The car was serviced at 9288 miles at a Citroen dealer so I was surprised this was not topped up, as the manual suggests it should be, and I can't see any evidence of leaks (white snow colour residues apparently) either.

Do I need to top up the full 17 litres to reset the light or is there a fault in the sensors?

No sound through speakers :/

2013 C4 Exclusive, eMyWay satnav headunit with Denon upgraded factory speakers/amp fitted.

Just started it up yesterday and I'm getting no sound at all!

Head unit works and is playing music/radio (can see the the track minutes ticking) but getting no sound.

Tried Bluetooth call, again connects/calls but no sound and also parking sensor screen shows sensors active but not getting the beeps.

Checked fuses in glove box (which was a nightmare) but looks fine.

Anyone have any ideas before I take it to Citroen?

Cheers
