Hi all, got a really loud Rattle coming from engine bay but only when slowing down. Drives fine, no noise at all accelerating but as soon as I lift off the Rattle starts and bit of a grinding noise. It's the 1.6 egs. No noise when in neutral and stationary, when driving and slowing down putting car in to neutral quitens but still a very slight rattle. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

When to change spark coil?

$

Hello,

I am going to change sparks in my citroen c4 (Petrol 1.4, 2004, 160k kilometers).
Last time I change them was 2 years ago (15K kilometers). There was a logged error of misfiring in one of the sparks, and also sometimes I smell petrol, so I guess it is time to change the sparks.

The spark coil seems fine through visual inspection.
Since the coil pack is not cheap, how should I know that I need to change the spark coil pack as well?
What is the recommended (and realistic) milage for changing them?

Thanks

ps. Can anyone confirm the socket wrench size I should buy to change the spark? I am guessing it is 14mm one, but some one in the forum mentioned that it is: "16mm hex 14mm thread", so which size is it? 14 or 16?

AdBlue Top Up - Warning Light Still Shows

Got a 65 plate C4 Picasso 1.6 and the warning light for the adblue came on last night on the road home from work. I picked up a 10Litre bottle of fluid today and topped up the reservoir as per the user handbook. However, even after putting 10Litres into it, I still have the warning light and on startup get the unable to start ignition in 1500mile message.

Anybody seen this before or have any ideas as to what is happening.

The tank wasn't drained from the last fill, and the warning only appeared last night and I've only driven 20miles with the warning showing.

Cheers

C4 2004 1.6SXi Hatch Fuel pump relay

Hello. I am new on the Forum and I have had a look but I can't find an exact answer to my problem.

Having broken down with an inoperative fuel pump, the breakdown man made a temporary roadside repair to get me on my way.

There is no power on Fuse 5 and looking at the circuit diagram, it appears that this might be an issue with Relay 2.

Is there simple way to get under the fuses to the lower layer which contains the relays? Do all the fuses need to come out first? The plastic case all seems a bit brittle, so I want to do this carefully.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hello,

I couldn't find anywhere difference between RD4 and RD45 so I have a question, which one do I have?

Do I have a CD Changer here and if I do up to how many CDs I can put in?
Is it possible to stream music via Bluetooth? (I've managed to set up my phone working for calls, contacts etc.)

C4 Coupe "coughing" on low throttle

Hello everyone,

I have problem with my C4 Coupe 1.6Hdi (110) EGS (2007).
When I'm parking, or starting to move, generally when I'm on really low throttle, the car coughs (I'm not sure how to explain what happens, maybe "shivering").

While stationry rpm is at 900 and stable. I'm not even sure that rpm jumps arround when car starts coughing, I think its stable even then.

Did anyone have this problem or maybe know what should I exemine?

ECU remapping

Hi there, long time lurker first time poster from Sydney here.

I'm sure this topic has been covered on other parts of the forum but probably not on a Picasso because most will find that it's not the type of car you'd do performance mods on. But I had to ask - has anyone ever remapped a C4 Picasso, specifically, the one with the 165THP engine?

Technically it should be feasible given how common this engine is in the PSA world, Bluefin even has one listed for the C4P, which I'm sure is no different to the one they make for the DS3 sport.

To give this context: My last car was a Megane RS250, which I loved to bits. But that had to go because we now have a baby. The C4 Picasso is perfect for our needs, and an extremely well thought-through car for a young family, it even handles decently for an MPV, but a year on, I'm starting to miss the power.

So I'm just wondering if anyone has had experience, how well it goes with the EAT6 transmission, and any issues with warranty (I'd be surprised if the ECU doesn't have a flash counter or some sort).

Thanks guys

New VED bands and second hand vehicles

$

The new more expensive VED bands will apply to cars first registered on or after 1 April 2017, in a few days time.

My local Citroen dealer is sending out emails which imply that new AND used cars sold after 1 April will attract the new rate - if that is correct, if I have a £20 tax car and sell it on the new owner will have to pay the new rates, or if I buy a pre owned car it will cost me more in VED even if it was first registered before 1 April 17.

My understanding is different, it is/was that the old bands/payments will be unchanged for vehicles registered before that date - the old rate lives on with the vehicle regardless of ownership changes.

So - either the dealer had made a genuine error, is being economical with the truth to drum up trade, or I have got it all wrong.

Comments and clarifications welcome.

Sorry for the english.

You can download last firmware - click here

INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK

It takes about ~20 minutes, you can drive the car, but radio and other functions dont work.
dont stop the engine

1) Download and unzip
2) Copy SMEG_PLUS_UPG folder to FAT32 formated USB flash drive. (Recommended to use 4GB+ fast USB 3 flash drive)
3) Start the engine, and wait system to load.
4) Disable eco mode, by clicking on car icon and then ECO OFF.
5) Make sure ECO mode is disabled, you can see on main screen ECO OFF icon is appeared.
6) You can check what version of firmware you are by holding setup button for 5 seconds.
7) insert USB flash drive to usb port and wait to loaded it.
8) Pop-up window will appear, wait few minutes to load the usb flash drive.
9) After that new pop-up window will appear asking you to update software, click yes.
10) In a few minutes, system will reboot and you will see blue screen.
11) You can get few errors with parking assistence, but its normal.
12) System will reboot few times.
13) After update, system will reboot to normal mode, and usb flash drive will load again with pop-up window asking you to update software, this time you click No, and then remove usb flash drive.
14) Now you can check if you have latest firmware version by holding setup button for 5 seconds, if you are on SMEG5.41.B.R4 is all good.

Now system is working more faster than before, and i tested internet browser via iphone internet, all good.

RD4 replaced by RD45 - cannot pair bluetooth devices C4 Grand Picasso 2007

Hi All,

I've just swapped RD4 with RD45 on my C4 GP. Using Diagbox I made sure I have streaming and Bluetooth connectivity activated in Radio I also made sure to activate Bluetooth function on screen (by the way I have type C HW8.1).

Everything seems to be working I can access Bluetooth through car screen menu, my phone can see BT Radio on the list of nearby available devices, when trying to pair I am prompted on car screen to confirm if I want to pair my device I press ok on the radio and then nothing. I am not asked to type in PIN, only after 1-2 minutes there is a notification on the car screen that pairing failed. On my phone it says that pairing failed due to wrong PIN. What can be the issue ?

Have I dodged a bullet or missed out?

Hi all,
This is my 1st actual thread....
c4 exclusive 2.0 hdi 2007

I've been on the lookout for a c4 exclusive for a bit, and thought I had found one at the right price.
Took the car for a test drive, and all is well. I open the bonnet, and can hear a gentle irregular grumble noise from the region of the clutch. On the test drive, the clutch felt fine, the noise is only noticeable from the engine bay.
There are no errors on the display, but I plugged in my £12 OBD reader, and it reports an intermittent crank position sensor fault.
Are the 2 things related? My best guess is that the DMF is failing and possibly causing issues with the sensor from it.... or am I missing out on a great car for the sake of a £20 sensor?

C4 Intermittent Unstable Driving At High Speeds

$

Hi all, sorry for the long post - at my wits end.

I've had my 2013 C4 (1.6 HDi (115bhp) VTR+ 5d) since August last year. It was a Citroen Select approved used car from a Citroen main dealer. It's now done 44k miles.

This was my second C4, replacing a 2011 model.

I have a problem in that, intermittently, the car is nervous, skittish and unstable at anything above 50mph. Some days I can bomb along at 70mph and the car feels assured, glued to the road, safe and stable. Just as quickly, the next day I can't get above 50mph before it feels like it wants to chuck me in the next ditch - the car seems to be floating on the road, and every bump or turn is scarey, with shimmying and lateral movement. Sometimes under breaking or acceleration, the back steps our or shimmies from side to side.

The problem is, it's not all the time - as I said, I can do a day where it feels like it owns the road. The next day, I can't get the speed up because it's so unstable I'm petrified to drive it.

It's not Tyres or Tyre Pressures - I've changed all four tyres for brand new premium tyres, this didn't fix it. I check the pressures regularly, and they are always spot on (33 front, 30 rear). I don't think it makes a difference whether it is full of Diesel or not (thinking it might be a weight issue) although I have felt it is generally more stable the heavier it is - but not always.

The garage have taken a look at it on 4 occasions and can't find a fault - although they have only done cursory examinations of the underneath and visual inspections (without dismantling) of the suspension. There is no evidence of any damage from previous owner either.

If I measure the gap between the rear tyre and the bodywork there is a marked difference between the left and right - the gap is wider on the right-hand-side, by about 5-10mm. The garage said this was fine, saying it depends on the geometry of the car when it is resting - the only way to test is to strap the car down and compress the suspension then measure it - they've done this and say the gap then matches.

I took it to an independent wheel alignment centre who said the rear geometry was out so much they estimated the rear would crab by 11 metres for every KM I drove. It also cannot be adjusted. The main dealer would not accept their examination. Either way, I am not sure that is the cause as if it was that bad, I would have problems all the time - but I am only having stability issues 60% of the time.

Any ideas what it could be? The dealer won't look at it again. They even suggested it was in my mind - but as its only intermittent AND I've had an identical C4 before, I know it's not a characteristic of the model.

Help!

Bill.

C4GP 2.0 HDi - Is this where you blank the EGR?

All the images and posts seem to be a bit different on the net.
Is this where you blank it for a 2008 2.0HDI?
If it is, wouldn't it be easier to blank off the pipe at the front of the engine?

C3 1.6HDi woe!

$

Although we do not cover C3s on this site, I have posted this because the 1.6 HDi engine is very similar to those fitted to the C4 and C4P.
Yesterday evening we got a call from our younger daughter, who had broken down in the C£. She said it was juddering, two warning lights came on, and it wouldn't clime the next fairly gentle hill at more than 40mph. When I got there, it started fine, but there was a message saying 'Engine Fault, please repair' or similar, and the engine management warning light was on. It seemed to tick over OK, so I drove it the 3 miles home. It seemed to perform as it should, apart from the warning.
So after disce=ussion, I decided to take it first thing to the local agent to see what was wrong. They were kind enough to take it into the workshop and do a diagnostic on it (no charge). When I went to pick it up, they told me that it needed new injectors and a raft of other new parts. When I asked the cost it was in excess of £2000. I was also told it shouldn't be driven.
So the car is at the agent until Monday. As I have taken out the Citroen Extended Warranty I am hoping (no, I am expecting) the repairs to be covered.
It is frustrating, and I hope it doesn't mean buying a replacement car as I have recently spent a lot on new rear brakes and front bushes (nearly £700) and a full set of Michelins.

Grand C4 Picasso 2014 (Airdream) - power steering reservoir

Hi, my 2014 Grand C4 Picasso has developed a squeak/whine when turning the steering wheel. I suspect the pump but would like to check the fluid level before I go to a dealer (three months warranty left) but can't see the reservoir under the bonnet! Nothing in handbook either.

I have managed to replace my mirror with a used mirror, all went well all electrical connectors plugged in, problem they wont adjust using the button to set them to desired view. I have searched and I am led to believe the electric windows and mirrors use the same fuse, can someone here confirm this, both mirrors are not adjusting, but the electric windows are working. I am at a loss with this, thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully help a confused c4 owner

C4 Grand picasso 2008 brake lights not working (diodes)

Hi, wonder if anyone can help?

Some kind bloke let me know both my brake lights apart from the top one were out yesterday, so had a bit of look into it. I haven't taken the cluster off yet, as was wondering if this could be a fuse ?

I see in the manual those tall side brake lights are described as diodes, so I'm assuming I can't just change a bulb. It says 'contact citreon' (sounds expensive)

Is there a common issue for these units, and what's the best fix ? I couldn't find any relevant descriptive fuses in the manual, and it seems a bit odd they both have given up.

I changed the brake switch last year for a eurocarparts one (that was to try and fix the ESP/asr warning, which i think was cured more by replacing the EGR at the time)

But I'm thinking it can't be the brake switch if the top brake light is working?

Thanks for looking
