Hi all
I'll start the story from the beginning....
i have c4 grand picasso diesel. we went out for a family trip one day, got down the road
and it flashed up on screen "esp asr system faulty" then went into limp mode. Car does not go over 2000 revs
and engine sounded rough. I got home and had a look under the bonnet, didn't have a clue what was wrong. i must have read
something about abs sensor so i gave it a wiggle around on drivers front side and the problem went. During this time of trying to fix another message "failure or loose connection" had come up.
A couple of days later the wife was out in the car on her own and the problem came back, i told her to stop and told her to turn wheel full lock left so she could access the sensor. It took her a few minutes but she did it and problem went, car was fine.
Then it happened one more time and it took me longer to fix, i took the wheel off to get better access to sensor, my plan was to clean it and check the condition of the ring and generally check the wiring to the sensor. I didn't take off the sensor as i didn't have the right torx bit, so put wheel back on.
(I must have put the wheel back on too tight as i managed to [%*^#@!] the locking wheel nut and key as i later found out.) The problem went by playing with the wiring higher up going up into the engine.
It continued to be fine for at least a month after.
Then just when we need the car the most- need it to pick up family from airport next Thursday, it goes again and this time it doesn't work with anything i try. Car stays in limp mode. Try to take the wheel off again, this time to change the abs sensor, when i cant get the locking wheel nut off! after hours trying all sorts i take it to a garage. They get the locking nuts off thankfully, as i was genuinely worried i might need a new wheel after the state of this wheel nut was in, and they have put standard wheel bolts in not locking, which i am happy with. They also checked diagnostics and said it was showing fault with drivers abs sensor. changed the sensor, Also changed my brake pads at the back as they were low. So i am happy, we had to wait another day for it to be done but at least car is back on road and all is good or so i thought. I was also £345 less well of by this point.
Today my wife pciked up the car while i am at work. The car is still in limp mode and showing the esp/asr system faulty sign and also a "engine is in need of repair" message-or words to that effect.
So i am pretty annoyed with the garage as they told my wife that message wont go until another problem- the injector no.3 ,is fixed and he can't do it, only citroen can do this and this will likely cost another few hundred quid!
Not sure why he didn't mention a problem with the injector until we picked it up.
Problem is i have it booked in at citroen wednesday but my wife is picking up family at airport on thursday and we dont know if it will be fixed in time, not to mention the money.
I have researched this problem on forums and i have found people have tried a brake switch fix, i had a look at this but cant see how to get the plastic cover off yet. I also want to have a look and check condition of the injectors but need to know how to get to them and which one is no. 3.
I also think it could be something as simple as a loose wire
The only other thing i that my tyre pressures look low in the front tyres but this wouldn't be a cause of the warnings would it? clutching at straws here but getting desperate
Any advice welcomed
thanks in advance
