C4 GP 2015 2.0 hdi exclusive just reached 20k on clock
Hello everyone, as title says I took my car in last Wednesday as AC wasn't working, they told me they took compressor out to change faulty valve as it was leaking from there, and picked it up 6-7 hours later.
When I go home I just opened the bonnet and top up washers I saw the drive belt chopped off at the side, been trying to get a call back for two days nothing heard from dealer at all. I need my car for daily use, so I decided to call local garage today(been with no working car for 2 days) whom luckily was a french car specialist and put new belt in for me for £120 with free recovery as I was told not to drive it incase it snaps and might tangle to cam-belt and damage that too.
The mechanic told me belt was not fit properly or dropped a tool while engine on or left something in there to cause damage. Damaged belt is almost like new no cracks or ageing signs anywhere to be seen, so it can not be wear and tear. How can this happen? Why I was not informed about it? To make it even worse letting me drive back with three kids at the back! What if something went wrong while driving back, I did 20 minutes of 40mph road on my way back.
I am going to call them again on Monday and see what they say. Any Idea how do I go about this and what I should say to them? Do you think they will accept the blame or they start denying it! no one was ever been close to belt or touched it apart from them, also if it was old damage am pretty sure they would have pointed it out and told me about it!
Many thanks
