Sat Nav update question

$

I have just acquired a 2018 Grand C4 Picasso (1.6 Flair) and I've been working through the systems to make sure everything is up to date and correct.
I looked into updating the Sat Nav software which is currently:
Europe CI-YY-PSA.P3CNS.U-MAP.EUR.TTC-4.0.2

But there seems to be 2 different recommended files
The Citoen website suggests
PSA_ovip-int-firmware-version_21-07-67-32_NAC-r0_NAC_EUR_WAVE2.tar
(2.5 Gb file with a key file)

or the My Citroen application on my phone which sends me a link to:
PSA_map-eur_14.0.0-r0-NAC_EUR_WAVE2.tar
(10 Gb file with no key file)

Both of these are using my VIN number for reference so SHOULD be correct

Has anyone else come across this and which one did they choose?

HI all,

Right I will start with what has happened.
I was driving along and the car went to change gear on a hill and it just failed and the clutch went which is what I thought, at this point you could still go thro the gears but the car wouldn't move.

I got the car back and tried to do the usual on diagbox before you take off gearbox with the procedures.

They all failed and it wouldn't drain the fluid back

I took out the engine and took the box off.

the DMF has totally seized round and couldn't get to the bolts so that had to be cut off.. the CSC has totally fallen apart and the clutch was well I wont even go there, but you could select the gears s

I got a new CSC Flywheel and Clutch. stuck it all back together the only thing that was odd was the clutch was a LUK and the Flyhweel was a SACHS,
but I was told from GSF and Euro this don't matter at all.

Anyway I have stuck it all back together the car starts but will not select any gears at all.

and the only code there is

P1734 FAULT IN GEARBOX ACTUATOR POSITION SIGNAL IN THE GEAR SELECTION AXIS.

I have tried to bleed the system and it fails
I have tried to learn the gears and it fails

Anyone got any ideas on where to start.

Personally I was to just smash the thing up...

Fuel cap help please!

Hi
I have a 2014 Grand Picasso with a "parallellogram" fuel cap door, rather than the circular one all my searches have brought up. On an (otherwise very successful) European adventure, the metal fascia on the plastic door of the fuel filling flap, flew off at 100mph. On a car train I hasten to add (turns out if you don't lock the doors, the flap isn't even latched).

So I bought a replacement petrol filling door assembly from a scrapyard, complete with the missing metal cover. Looking at it, to replace the complete unit would mean (at least) dismanting the inside of the boot.

However, the metal cover is held to the plastic door only by being slid under four retaining notches, and something to stop it sliding out. If I can work out how to detach the metal cover from the plastic flap assembly, I can restore the good looks of my C4 with no open heart surgery required.

Does anyone have any idea how to detach the metal cover from my "spare" door assembly?

Stereo and reversing camera

Hi,
Right I have decided i will be getting a C4GP automatic and while i am waiting to find a decent one have been thinking about accessories I want to add.
1: Reversing camera as apart from the fact i am [%*^#@!] at reversing having used them in other cars they help me greatly (health prob) so can anyone recommend one and any other info related to them.
2: I would like to replace the standard stereo head unit with a more modern one and one that could have a screen linked to the camera?.
3: any other mods or accessories that are useful or improvements. has anyone replaced their alloys? again any tips most welcome.
I can't wait to get my car and having had a look round on today its ideal for my needs and i actually like the styling compared to a couple of Zafira's i have had I think the Citroen is more stylish and certainly much more comfortable seats than the Vauxhalls.
Cheers
Brian
ps Had a few quotes for insurance and lowest is £245 fully comp is that a decent quote? I live out in the wilds of Scotland so no crime here but as i have had Motability cars for years my late wife was down as the main driver.....I didn't drive them then due to health probs but since she died last year i had to try and get back into driving again so there's just me and my dog but need to carry large wood carvings so the C4GP is perfect car for the job.
Sorry for all the questions but we all have to start somewhere.

Rear seat stock

Hello from Denmark

I have a C4 picasso (not grand) from 2014.
I have a problem with the middle rear seat. We use the funtion to slide the seats forward quite often, when we need more space in the trunk. But now it can only move a little bit ahead, and then it seems to get stuck in the left side of the seat/sliding mecanism. It doesnt seem to have anything stuck in the sliding mecanism,- I have vacuumed it and cleaned with high pressure air.
I can tilt the seat forward when it is slided all the way back,- but not if it is moved forward to where it cant slide more forward.
Has anyone experineced the same problem,- and/or have a suggestion on how to solve it.

Thanks for your feedback

ECU issues or am I missing something?

Hi all. This site has been invaluable in the help I've needed in the past even though this is my first post.

I have a 2007 C4 picasso vtr+ 1.6 diesel.

This car has been awesome and I've had no problems with it other than needing to replace battery.

The problems started when I drove it one morning and all of a sudden lots of errors popped up on the dash like abs, handbrake, airbags, everything. I parked up when I could safely and it wouldn't start again. I had to be rescued.

I've tried resetting the bsi, leaving battery off for days at a time and all sorts. The errors have mostly gone but now it's having a hissy fit. It refuses to start or turn over or anything. It remains in economy mode which I think is cutting power to the obd? I used to have power to the port but now I have nothing.

A friend of a friend has a garage and he plugged in 3 different obd readers and nothing is reading.

Fuses are fine, wiring is ok from what I can see.

Please someone give me an idea! I've been at it for weeks!

Many thanks in advance.

Peugeot 5008 & 3008 (2017 onwards)

To avoid confusing earlier posts on the Citroen C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso (B78) Road Tests and Model Reports, headed 'Finally it is here!!!', I'll start this to allow us to talk about the new Peugeot 5008 (P87) & the 3008 (P84).

Admin, please do feel free to move it if necessary.

I agree, the 5008 Peugeot forum is very light on posts, with answers few and far between. Use the same forum, but the 3008 area instead, which is much busier and the search facility for lots of posts (see link below). I normally get an answer within a few hours to any posts I make.

The 5008 & 3008 are pretty much identical except the sixth and seventh seats anyway and the lack of real colours. I have noted that the 5008 hasn't got any bright reds for instance in the range, compared to the 3008, which is a real shame. The colours are quite muted for some reason.

https://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/3008-2017-138/

With regards to your question about fuel consumption on my current 3008. As you can imagine, I've been keeping detailed spreadsheet records of all my previous cars, using the brim to brim method and not relying on the cars generally unreliable mpg readout.

For both my first Peugeot, the 2017 3008 EAT6 GT 180 and my current 2018 3008 EAT8 GT 180:

2017 3008 GT180 EAT6 Euro 6 - From brand new 45.90 mpg (covering from 0 miles to 9000 miles on the clock).

2018 3008 GT180 EAT8 Euro 6.2 - From brand new 44.23 mpg (covering from 0 miles to now 4800 miles on the clock).

Comparing this to my now sold 2014 C4GP 2.0 150 EAT6 Euro 6 - From brand new 43.99 mpg (covering from 0 miles to 7000 miles on the clock).

So in fact mpg is pretty much similar across all three cars.

You should get better consumption with the 1.5, but then the 5008 is heavier, so it may well balance out.

One thing to watch for on the newer Euro 6.2 engines and I've seen a few posts with people saying with the new 1.5 engine, the Adblue consumption is higher. Not had to top up any as yet on mine, but its not an expensive top up anyway. Its described in the brochure now as like screen wash or fuel, so they expect more regular top ups than the old Euro 6 diesel.

I have indeed sat in the 5008 GT Line Premium and its very nice. I liked the interior seat trim, sort of leather look and fabric, with the same up on the dashboard. I also liked how the 5008 also had a proper UK socket fitted for the middle seat passengers.

The EAT8 gearbox is surprisingly smooth even when the EAT6 was pretty darn good.

Please post any questions you may have and I'll try and help.

2005 c4 hatch heater stuck on hot

Hi all. I got a problem with my c4 where the heaters are staying on hot all the time. It does have the dual zone climate control and i have found information online regarding a common problem of a white plastic thing sticking or rounding off, however i have checked this and its intact and moving as it should. I removed a motor below the white plastic thing and found a small black cog which seems to control the hot/cold air mixture and if you look in the attached link below you will see 1 or 2 teeth have gone. Can this be changed? or will it require an entire new heater box? thanks in advance

The Curious Case of the Missing Fusebox

Hi all, so I recently purchased my first car, a silver Citroen C4 Cachet 2008 model, 5 door, however I was warned on buying that the radio didn't work - which turned out to be untrue as the radio works fine (displays, tunes, etc) - it's the speakers that are at fault however, as they just make no sound whatsoever.

So before buying a new radio, as I was advised to do by the previous owner, I thought I'd look at the fuses to exclude the easiest/cheapest potential problem first. Consulting the owners manual led me to the fuse board in the glovebox, behind a panel, however the fuse I'm after for the Hi-fi Amplifier (F36) is supposedly on another, smaller fusebox with only 3 fuses, supposedly found somewhere in there too, however for the life of me I can't find it.

I found a guy on YouTube showing his way around the fuses, however he doesn't point out what I'm looking for, with some people in the comments saying they can't find these ones either - but no one's given an answer, other than one saying it's in there 'to the side'. Please see below said YouTube video, and the incredibly vague location/diagram given in the shockingly unhelpful owners manual.

I've done my googling, and toured these forums trying to find further info, if someone could offer some direction that would be great.

Thank you,
- Aleks

Car Insurance - what to check as well as the price

$

You could be missing out if you ignore the specialist brokers (especially if your car or situation is non-standard).

You might think that you're going to get your best deal on a price comparison website but actually at Chris Knott we're just as likely to beat an online price as any other.

Different deals exist for brokers that mean we can easily compete in the market.

Price is very important and we know that's normally the buying trigger but have you also considered what service you will get for example?

WHAT TO CHECK WHEN GETTING QUOTES
When you're comparing your quotes make sure you check a few key things in addition to the price so your pride and joy really is well protected:

- Is there a contact number or address available if you have any issues or are they keeping you at arm's length?
- What's the total excess you'll have to pay for claims (compulsory + voluntary amounts)?
- What's actually included - windscreen cover, courtesy car, legal expenses?
- Have you heard of the company before or are they unknown?
- Are they UK based and therefore regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority?
- How do their admin charges for change of address/vehicle/mods/resending documents compare?
- What's the total cost (including interest) if you're paying monthly?

Give Chris Knott a try at renewal and see if we'll be your best option this year. We can explain all of these things to you in your quote so you're not buying blind.

QUOTELINE: 0800 917 2274 or leave us your renewal date at https://www.chrisknott.co.uk/CarQuote and we'll call you at the right time.

best,
Nick

RELEVANT TESTIMONIALS
Here are some examples that specifically show Chris Knott beating the online sites - we have many more, these are just a selection:

"Great company, great quote, dealt with a guy called Ian who couldn’t have been more helpful, as was everyone else I spoke with... couldn’t be more happy with the customer service, highly recommend calling them over wasting time with comparison sites." Dan Brooke, TrustPilot

"I contacted Chris Knott Insurance after reading an online recommendation that they were good to deal with. I was pleasantly surprised at the prices provided, which were a total of £80 cheaper than the cheapest price I'd been able to find via searching several comparison sites. Good service as well which is always a bonus." Euan Campbell, TrustPilot

"I used these last year and renewal due soon. At the time they we're the cheapest after looking at all the comparison sites." John Burrill, Saab Owners Club

"So far so good. I have recently insured car and house with Chris Knott. In both cases I had done a comparison search on Google. I decided to go through talking with a human. Both agents were informative and helpful." Mrs B, TrustPilot

"They are awesome! Best price I could find online and with comparisons, they beat by about £50. Plus they included ALL of the added extras you would normally pay extra for." Richard R, TTMk1OC

"Gave Chris Knott Insurance a call - none of the comparison sites could touch them for my renewal." Graeme Thom, MK6 Golf Owners Club UK

"I had been with Chris Knott Insurance for over 10 years up until 2013 when I got rid of my car. Recently after getting a new car, they were able to quote the best price on insurance even after a very reasonable quote from a popular price comparison website. Highly recommended, and its definitely worth getting a quote even if a comparison websites seem to be the best option." Andrew Robertson, TrustPilot

When you open the boot you are working bove your head.

I can't find any instructional videos or write ups for this c4 grand Picasso. All the ones I find are too old, and just show the lights on the car itself rather than in the boot that lifts up.

I have bought the bulbs and am all ready to try and change them out, any help would be much appreciated.
