Bye everyone!
I would simply like to say thanks to everyone here. People have been really friendly and helpful over the course of my year of C4 ownership. The car was good, did not give me any trouble and will be missed but unfortunately got written off after an accident I had recently with a bus (at least they admitted liability). Now I won't be using the forum much other than to check the status of 2 items I have in the "For sale section".
I am quite excited about my new car. It's really nice to drive! It's an Alfa 156 JTDM 150 Veloce. They say that everyone should own an Alfa before snuffing it so I can now tick that box
Although I know that this car maker hasn't got a reputation for reliability...touch wood the car seems ok for now!
Thanks again and see you around!

Front suspension rebuild
I am in the process of rebuilding front suspension due to a rattle at low speed over rough roads. Replaced front wishbones ,droplinks , rollbar bushes, topmounts springs[1snapped} top mounts and struts. rattle still there. checked all other possible fixes that you great people suggested and all is fine so only thing left is the additional washer for top mount- where is it fitted? Does it go onto top of strut before metal cup or under the top mount above said cup? any help much appreciated.

'57 C4 Grand Picasso Exclusive...Help???
I'll try and be brief!
Need to change pads on rear brakes (which has Electric parking break), do I need computer (garage) or can my mechanic friend do it? How do we wind the brakes back in (regarding electric parking brake)?
Any more tips regarding rear brakes on this model?
Also, I have semi-auto gear box which is very sluggish (pulls) between all gear changes, Citroen garage said they could do an "update on the gear box, but that might not improve it... For £180" Has anyone had theirs done, did it work or do you know of an alternative?
First time poster by the way!....Hi!

2013 C4 Mk2 Rear Main Oil Seal
Anyone had any run ins with the rear main oil seal on the C4?
Just had the car serviced by Citroen in Poole and they advised that there may be an oil leak and to replace the main seal could be quite costly :/

1.6hdi Rough Idle When Cold
My 1.6HDI has been running really rough on idle when cold, once warmed up there's no problem but I'm starting to notice it every time I go to start the car after it's been sat a while.
It had and oil change about a month ago and there's no fault codes. There's no visible smoke at any point although I have noticed fuel economy taking a little longer to reach normal (but then with the heat I've used aircon more than ever before!).
What would be the best place to start?

Hi
Recently purchased a 2010 Picasso 1.6 HDI VTR+
How do I know if it's 1 2006-2010 110bhp model or a 2010-2013 112bhp model?

C4 1.6 e-HDi injector fault and ESP/ASR system fault
I've had my C4 1.6 e-HDi Airdream VTR+ EGS6 5dr (I think that's how they describe it!) for 10 days.
It's a 61 plate (October 2011) with only 15k on the clock (one former 80+ year old owner).
Leaving a roundabout, the dash lit up like a Christmas tree with about every warning under the sun, and bells and beeps to go with it.
The central display now alternately reads "ESP/ASR System Faulty" and (less helpfully) "Engine Fault: Repair Needed". The car is driveable, but sounds like it is misfiring and won't go above 15mph.
RAC have been out and done e-diagnostics, which revealed this list:
DTC: P1445,The quantity of additive injected into particle filter has exceeded the maximum threshold. The particle filter must be changed.
DTC: P0017,Starting Monitoring, synchronisation time too long
DTC: P2291,The rise in pressure in the injection rail is too slow on starting
DTC: U1218,CAN: One of the parameters present in a data stream sent by the BSI is invalid
DTC: P1AA2,Voltage retaining device, internal fault
DTC: P2299,Accelerator pedal position sensor
DTC: U1209,CAN: One of the parameters present in a data stream sent by the gearbox ECU is invalid
DTC: P0271,Injector cylinder 4
DTC: U1213,CAN: One of the parameters present in a data stream sent by the ABS/ESP is invalid
DTC: P0500,Speed information faulty
Concerned at the number of faults, the RAC then cleared the fault list and now it only comes back with
DTC: P0271,Injector cylinder 4
Does it sound like I have one fault or more? I can't work out how the "ESP/ASR System Faulty" warning relates to an injector problem?
Thanks,
Bill.

Top screen replacement
Hi just had my top screen replaced under warranty, usual faults of no rear cam and intermittent lines on the screen. It took six weeks on back order, my dealer or the norm ?
Anyhow I just want to clarify something, I noticed the new screen appears quite Matte Iin appearance, more so than the old one, should there be a protective glass or plastic screen to protect it when say cleaning it .
You can definitely see LCD float when you press the screen even lightly, it will make me nervous when giving it a clean considering the price of them, am I being paranoid ?

C4 Picasso handbrake fault.
Hi all,
I have a Picasso with a faulty handbrake, I took it for an MOT before which it was fine, while I was there the mechanic showed me that the rear driver side calliper had a leak so I got it changed. I no longer have a leak but I have various lights on and warning messages such as handbrake fault, asr fault and the electronic handbrake will not auto engage or disgage. I've read it may be the brake pedal switch or also a new battery as the original battery is still on the car so I changed both but the faults are still present.
Hoping somebody has experienced similar problems and can help.
Many thanks
Steve

Aircon not working
I have only had this 2013 C4 Picasso for a couple of months having bought from a non Citroen dealer. The vehicle was first registered October 2013 so there are still a couple of months left on warranty.
I am at present on extended holiday in France for a number of months where last week temperatures were in the high 40s. Naturally I put the aircon on, only to be blasted with hot air. I tried numerous settings, all to no avail. I telephoned my nearest Citroen dealer in UK and explained the problem. He said that it was a common fault and caused by the gas leaking from a unit just behind the front bumper. As I am returning to UK in August I asked if it could be repaired by them under the warranty. The reply was that it was not covered under the warranty !!
Can this be true.
The car is less than 3 years old and you would expect something to last much longer than this.
I have taken it into a French garage but because it is the new system they are unable to do anything with it and I would need to take it to another Citroen dealer 100 kilometres away who will require it for at least a week.
As it is my only means of transport whilst out here, it is not really an option.
Has anyone had similar occurrences with their aircon.

Rear parking sensor fitting, after market kit with display. C4 Picasso 2009.
Having read and printed the fitting of an after market rear sensor kit. I have done this job with a little more finesse. I took the power supply to a canbus relay from the rear power socket. Took the green wire from the multiplug that supplies the n/s reverse light to the relay, and power for the sensor module from the canbus output. All connections soldered to the connector pins, so no cut wires.
My kit has a display (which I need as I am deaf) that shows the distance in metres and green/yellow/red warnings. This small unit was placed to the right of the dashboard between the quarter window and the upper storage box. The wire to the sensor module was placed behind the door trim and fed across the top of drivers and rear o/s doors, across the top of hatch trim and down to the n/s boot lining. All completely hidden. The sensor module is behind the left side boot trim and the wiring to the sensors goes through the original wiring grommet to the space behind the rear wheel liner.
All hidden and having the canbus relay, no system errors. Neat.

Could battery cause auto handbrake failure?
Hi,
I am having the same problem as a lot of people with my 2008 C4GP, ASR / ESP & hand brake warning lights.
I changed the brake switch the the passenger footwell like everyone suggests but it doesn't seem to make any difference and I was wondering if anyone could suggest anything else to look at or could it be a faulty battery?
I have also noticed now that when I manually activate the handbrake the motor to a noticeably longer time to either turn it on or off.
Any help would be appreciated.

Does this happen to anyone else ??

Long Distance Journey
Hello,
I placed a similar post a few days ago but I can not find it and so do not know if anyone has responded to it.
Last year I purchased the new Grand C4 exclusive plus automatic 1.6 litre Diesel Blue.
At present I have done less than 5,000 miles. My average annual mileage is around 5,000 miles. So I guess by next year the car would have done 10,000 miles...
Next year in 2017, We will travel around 10,000 miles abroad with roof-box loaded.
I will take the car to Citroen for a full service before the long drive...
Questions:
1-
Can I use the same tyres or is it best to replace them all if by next year before my travel the car has done around 10,000 miles.?
2-
As I do not have any mechanical experience, what is best to carry for the car's maintenance in-case it is required?
3-
Can this car manage that kind of journey within a 6 weeks period?
4-
As the car will be fully loaded with a roof-box, is it ok to use the air conditioning all the time? I mean, does it put extra unwanted pressure on the engine for this journey?
5-
Anything else you can suggest to think of about keeping the car healthy during this long drive?
Thank you
