Hi all new to the forum and have a problem with the car.
It started just before Xmas, when parking up or going between drive/reverse or park a hill hold fault, esp/abs fault and the gear shifter would stop responding.
It has been doing this on and off since, it comes with various different faults displayed on the screen. I was until recently a car mechanic and as such I have fairly expensive scanner, unfortunately one that isn’t up to date. I managed to only scan a few of the ecu’s, fortunately one of those was the auto box. I’ve got codes :
P1749-gear selection actuator target position not reached coherence.
P17BC, P17AF, P17B0
I reset the codes and it’s fixed the fault over Christmas for some time, but it’s back. Interestingly I can sometimes get it out of park but cycling the ignition and working the gear selector and brake pedal.
Yesterday it was even worse, no faults at all displayed but would not come out of park. I can actuate the gearbox with my scanner to select a gear but it wouldn’t work. Once I reset the code, all ok again and again I could use the scanner to select the gears.
One new thing I noticed last week when it was behaving itself was the cruise and speed limiter has stopped working. I use this a lot so I know it worked very recently.
So in my head I’m thinking:
brake switch . I see the older Picasso had issues with this switch causing similar problems-is this the same with the b78 platform. This could account for the issues if it’s sending strange resistances/signals. Could also account for the cruise issue
Gear shift actuator( gears selector stalk)- this again could be sending spurious signals to the ecu.
Battery- it’s the original and I’m fully aware the strange issues a failing battery can cause on modern cars. I would add that the fault occurs normally after a drive and has a charge.
Has anyone had similar faults to mine, would love some help with this. I’ve spent the last two nights trawling the forums. Problem is I found people with similar faults but never responded with a fix. I guess the 2.0 with eat6 is quite rare too which doesn’t help.
I think in the mean time I will ring Citroen’s for a brake pedal switch and go from there.
Thanks in advance
Chris
