Good Evening,
I bought a pre owned 2013 Citroen C4 1.6 VTi on 29 March with just under 87 000km on the clock. (The vehicle was serviced on 86 500.) I drove about 450km to get home and the car ran like a dream all the way. On the 30th I did a small trip again of about 60km and the car was fine again.
My wife and I decided to take a longer road trip, but only about 5km into it the car gave a "Engine Fault: Repair needed" warning and the engine light came on. I went back home. Opened the bonnet and the car was extremely warm, the water in the water tank was boiling and filling back up from the radiotors side (All the way to the top, far past the max level) . I checked the oil as well and it was a bit low so I topped it up and let the car cool down.
About 45min later when I checked the water tank it was just above the minimum amount so I filled it back up(I checked but there were no leaks) . I started the car and the warning came up again with the engine light still on, I took it for a short drive and when I stopped at a garage and checked under the hood the water was boiling again and filling up the water tank from the radiotors side again. I got no overheat or temprature warning on the inside, nor was the fan running even though the water was boiling and the car does not have a heat gauge on the inside. The "Engine Fault: Repair needed" warning still comes up and the engine light stays on, so the car is parked and I am not using it now.
My knowledge of cars are very limited, any idea what might be going on? Thank you for your time.
