I bought some new front pads for my 2006 C4 1.6HDi hatchback.

The lower one is the type I took out, not sure what brand it is. The top one is the new one from Brembo. They look different. The newer one has a smaller pad area.
Have I managed to pick up the wrong ones?
I decided to pull the old ones because I was getting a constant squeal, and after reversing out from my drive, the few tens of metres I was getting a horrid grinding noise.
