Having read and printed the fitting of an after market rear sensor kit. I have done this job with a little more finesse. I took the power supply to a canbus relay from the rear power socket. Took the green wire from the multiplug that supplies the n/s reverse light to the relay, and power for the sensor module from the canbus output. All connections soldered to the connector pins, so no cut wires.
My kit has a display (which I need as I am deaf) that shows the distance in metres and green/yellow/red warnings. This small unit was placed to the right of the dashboard between the quarter window and the upper storage box. The wire to the sensor module was placed behind the door trim and fed across the top of drivers and rear o/s doors, across the top of hatch trim and down to the n/s boot lining. All completely hidden. The sensor module is behind the left side boot trim and the wiring to the sensors goes through the original wiring grommet to the space behind the rear wheel liner.
All hidden and having the canbus relay, no system errors. Neat.
